Winston Products recently obtained the actual bumper from the #27 car of NASCAR driver Paul Menard that was featured in the massive wreck during practice laps for the Daytona 500 in February of 2014. We were tasked with coming up with a unique way to display the bumper in the Winston Products showroom, an Array client and co-sponsor of the car.
We had a few brainstorming sessions and landed on creating a large, powerful scene that utilized both the AP press photo that was featured in USA Today along with the actual bumper from the #27 car. The photo would be enlarged and printed onto a paper stock to be adhered to a wall alcove in the showroom.
After a couple rounds of quick photoshop mockups, we really began to see the vision coming to life. We brought in long time print partner, TKM Print Solutions to produce the graphics. After a week or two of testing to make sure that the bumper accurately fit the life-size photo, TKM began producing the wallpaper and acrylic graphics. Given the large scale of the project, we had to utilize a scissor lift to complete the installation.
The finished project documents SmartStraps’ NASCAR debut on the #27 Menards car that will forever be on display in the Winston Products showroom. To read more about Array’s involvement in the Winston Products event activation with NASCAR, check out a few of our past blog posts:
